feat(website): migrate the site and docs to astro and starlight - #351
Replaces the Rspress site in website/ with an Astro + Starlight site in the Callstack product look (the family of Appduct, Rozenite, Apex, Simlock and agent-device), built with the product-web-design skill.
Angle: "Your AI SDK code. Running on the phone." The generateText / streamText code you already write runs on device, with no server and no API key.
Runtimes section: one AI SDK API over each platform's fastest runtime. Apple, Core AI and ADK are labelled as native modules we build; Llama is labelled as a provider over the community llama.rn binding.
Hero: a streamText({ model: apple() }) window next to a phone in airplane mode streaming its reply.
Look: Forest #3fae6a accent (#32744b for light-mode docs links) and a dithered chip as the signature background. The 404 page shows the board with the chip missing.
Docs: all 35 pages migrated, including Core AI, at the same /docs/... URLs. Rspress containers, PackageManagerTabs and relative links are converted, and the sidebar keeps the old order.
Generated assets: social card, README banner, favicons and llms.txt.
Brand guide:docs/DESIGN.md, linked from AGENTS.md.
website/ is still its own bun project with its own lockfile, outside the workspaces. Vercel now builds into dist/.
Checks
bun run build and bun run check pass: 0 errors, 0 warnings.
Page checks at 1440, 768 and 390px: no console errors, failed requests, horizontal overflow or broken internal links.
SEO audit over 37 pages: titles, descriptions, canonicals, Open Graph, sitemap and robots.txt, with no errors.
Not done: Lighthouse runs, and a check of the Vercel preview deploy.
Replace the Rspress site with an Astro + Starlight site in the Callstack
product look, with a Forest green accent and a dithered chip scene.
The home page leads with the AI SDK running on device, and shows which
providers are native modules (Apple, Core AI, ADK) and which wraps the
community llama.rn binding. Every docs page keeps its /docs URL.

The website moves from Rspress to Astro and Starlight. The changes add a branded landing page, shared site content and metadata, dither visuals, social asset generation, and migrated documentation pages with updated navigation and styling.
Astro and Starlight configuration and package scripts replace Rspress. The website documentation describes the setup and design specification. TypeScript, deployment, and ignore settings are updated.
Shared site content and metadata website/src/site/*, website/src/layouts/Site.astro, website/src/routeData.ts, website/src/pages/robots.txt.ts
Shared brand, product, and page data supply site content and metadata. The layout and route middleware provide page titles, descriptions, canonical URLs, social metadata, and structured data.
Landing page and reusable components website/src/pages/index.astro, website/src/pages/404.astro, website/src/components/home/*, website/src/components/site/*, website/src/styles/landing.css
The homepage and 404 page use shared components and site content. Components provide navigation, code examples, tabs, FAQs, and animation. Responsive and reduced-motion styles are included.
Dither scene rendering website/src/components/site/Dither.astro, website/src/components/site/dither*, website/src/styles/landing.css
Dither scenes render through a worker when offscreen canvas transfer is available, or through the main-thread animator otherwise. The host forwards resize and visibility updates.
Starlight receives custom components, styles, and a docs collection. Documentation pages use frontmatter titles, updated links and imports, and Starlight admonition syntax. Former navigation metadata files are removed.
Social card and icon generation website/og/og.html, website/scripts/og.mjs
The asset page renders social-card and banner formats. The generator captures both formats and writes JPEG and favicon assets.

Merge Risk: Low · up to 33b17
The site migration looks sound, but several published code examples would mislead readers or fail to type-check. The polyfill setup and the ADK JSON, usage, tool-update and cloud-default guidance should be fixed before or shortly after merge.
Security architecture risk: Low · up to 33b17
The inspected routes remain part of a statically published website, with no demonstrated expansion of privileged request handling. Risk is concentrated in the publishing dependency and deployment migration. Live deployment behavior and rollback were not verified.
Retained concerns
No architecture-level concerns identified.
Security review details
Security Blast Radius
inferred — The demonstrated exposure is the public website, its browser-delivered behavior, and its publishing dependencies. The inspected entrypoints do not demonstrate access to provider credentials, native inference authority, or tenant data stores.
Trust Boundaries and Controls
observed — The 404 page reads a visitor-controlled pathname, tolerates malformed percent encoding, limits its displayed length, and assigns it through textContent rather than an HTML sink. The robots handler takes no request-derived input and returns text based on site configuration.

Full details: Title check
Explanation
The title "feat(website): migrate the site and docs to astro and starlight" matches the main change. The PR replaces the Rspress site in website/ with an Astro + Starlight site and migrates the documentation pages. The title is specific and follows a conventional-commit style. It does not mention the new DESIGN.md brand guide, the 404 page, or the generated social assets, but it does not need to cover every detail.
Full details: Docstring Coverage
Explanation
Docstring coverage is 89.47% which is sufficient. The required threshold is 50.00%. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff. Documentation-only edits and deletions within surviving functions are included; unchanged diff context and fully deleted functions are excluded. Analyzed 19 functions across 18 files. Move the private cloud compute variants below its setup, core ai's
task and memory options below basic usage, and adk's availability,
cloud and provider options to a models and availability page.

Open every page and section with what it lets you do, state each fact
once, keep export internals out of the guides, and point to hosted
models instead of repeating them. Rework the adk pages and the
introduction, which repeated themselves the most.

Review comments at @website/src/content/docs/docs/adk/generating.md:
- Around line 56-57: Update the usage logging in the generating example to read
the AI SDK token counts directly: remove `.total` from both `usage.inputTokens`
and `usage.outputTokens` accesses, preserving their number-or-undefined values.
- Line 97: Update the public return type of adk() to expose a model type that
includes updateTools and the other supported model methods, rather than only
LanguageModelV4. Apply the same type guidance to model.prepare() in
adk/models.md so both examples type-check.
- Line 130: Update the JSON-mode example under “Ask for JSON with JSON mode” to
use the AI SDK output option: replace the provider-level responseFormat passed
to generateText with Output.json(), and read the generated result’s output
value.
Review comments at @website/src/content/docs/docs/adk/models.md:
- Line 12: Update the Cloud Gemini entry in the model table to clarify that
callers must explicitly set modelName to select gemini-2.5-flash; do not imply
that this is the provider default.
Review comments at @website/src/content/docs/docs/core-ai/images-and-video.md:
- Line 61: Update the dynamic-shapes documentation to state that duration is
measured in seconds, not frames, and distinguish it from frameCount, which is
measured in frames; clarify that 81 frames is approximately five seconds at 16
fps.
Review comments at @website/src/content/docs/docs/polyfills.mdx:
- Line 43: Update the polyfills documentation examples so app code cannot run
before setupPolyfills() finishes: show initialization being awaited before
loading or executing app code, including in the bare React Native example.
Review comments at @website/src/site/content.ts:
- Line 284: Update the `cmd` value in the “Call the AI SDK” content entry to
show the Android run command, `npx expo run:android`, so it matches the
preceding Android setup step.
- Line 284: Update the “Call the AI SDK” step’s body text so `apple()` or
`adk()` is described only with language-model functions; remove `embed` from
that list or clarify that embedding requires a separate embedding model.
- Line 255: Qualify the GGUF compatibility claim in the body text and its
repeated occurrence by stating that a model must fit the device’s available
memory, including memory required for its context; avoid implying every GGUF
model can run on a phone.
