The Activity now requests application_identities.write and records the grant per user. The bot's WidgetSyncService asks the OpenShock API once per tick for the users whose control stats changed (POST /1/integrations/control-stats/changes, automation token with ControlStatsRead) and writes them to the Game Stats Widget via the Application Identity Profile API, only when the data actually changed. Merge Risk: 🟡 Moderate · up to Profile widgets can keep showing an unlinked user's old OpenShock stats when clearing fails or when the bot restarts. Re-linked users may also stop receiving widget updates. Resolve or explicitly accept these behaviors before merging. Pre-merge checks |

Preserve identity mappings across bot restarts.
If a user unlinks while the bot is stopped, the next process starts with an empty _synced dictionary. The database no longer contains that user, so the service cannot find or clear the previously written Discord profile. Persist the written identity mapping, or clear the Discord identity in the unlink flow. The PR summary also identifies this restart gap.

Retain a pending clear until Discord accepts it.
If Discord rejects the empty-data PATCH or the request fails, removing _synced first discards the only record of the old identity. Later ticks cannot retry the clear. An unlinked user’s old stats can remain visible indefinitely. Keep the identity pending until cleanup succeeds, and retry transient failures.

Delete the old application identity when the OpenShock ID changes.
If a user re-links from OpenShock ID A to ID B, this PATCH clears A’s profile data but leaves A’s Discord Application Identity in place. Discord requires later profile writes to use an existing identity’s ID. The write for B then receives 400, so the new widget never syncs. Delete the stale profile-only identity during re-link cleanup before writing B. (docs.discord.com)

Delete the prior Discord identity before re-linking
When a user re-links after a successful sync, this only replaces the old identity's data with {}; it leaves that identity in Discord. Discord requires subsequent profile updates to use an already-existing provider-issued ID when an application identity exists, so the later PATCH with the new OpenShockId receives a 400 identity-mismatch response, is treated as Failed, and is retried forever. Delete or reconcile the prior profile-only identity before writing stats for the new account. Discord's profile API documentation describes this identity-matching requirement.
Useful? React with 👍 / 👎.

Retain stale sync entries until their clears succeed
If the cleanup PATCH fails transiently (for example, Discord rate-limits or is unavailable while a user unlinks or re-links), this removes the only record of the old identity before ignoring the result. On all later ticks that user is absent or has a different ID, so no further clear is attempted and the stale widget data remains permanently; unlike the normal update path, this cleanup has no retry.
Useful? React with 👍 / 👎.
