A compact KDE Plasma 6 panel widget for whatever is playing: Spotify, a browser tab or any other MPRIS media player.
In the panel
- Album art, title and artist
- Previous / play-pause / next
- The player's own volume (e.g. Spotify's in-app slider, not the system volume), with a speaker button to mute
- A progress bar along the bottom of the widget
- Scroll to change volume, middle-click to play/pause, hover for details
- Collapses when nothing is playing
Click it for a popup card with larger art, album, a seekable progress bar with times, big controls and a volume slider.
It follows the player you most recently started, and keeps showing it while paused unless another player starts, so a paused browser tab doesn't take over from Spotify.
Right-click → Configure Now Playing…: album art, artist line, controls, volume slider and its width, progress bar, maximum text width, scroll for volume, and hide when paused.
- KDE Plasma 6 (uses Plasma's built-in MPRIS integration)
- A player that supports MPRIS; volume control needs the player to allow it (Spotify does)
The folder name must match the plugin id:
git clone https://github.com/zhelly0/nowplaying ~/.local/share/plasma/plasmoids/com.github.zhelly0.nowplayingThen right-click your panel → Add Widgets… → search for Now Playing. If
it doesn't show up, restart Plasma: systemctl --user restart plasma-plasmashell.
To update: git pull in that folder and restart Plasma.
