I contribute to query engines and lakehouse storage, including PostgreSQL core, focusing on correctness across system boundaries: durable writes, native APIs, and consistent query results. I work primarily in Rust and C++, with Java contributions to Doris and Paimon.
- Concurrency correctness — Fixed publication ordering in DuckDB's parallel hash-join build and Paimon C++'s singleton initialization.
- Query & replication correctness — Authored PostgreSQL's fix for
stale tuplecid records left by aborted subtransactions,
backpatched to all supported releases (14+); restored complete results in
Lance scans after cross-generation updates and deletes,
preserved all-NULL groups in DataFusion TopK,
and kept DuckDB's
decodefrom mutating shared input buffers. - Native APIs & ownership — Added panic-to-error handling for lance-c calls and Arrow streams, hardened callback and waker lifetimes, and exposed shared-model, uncommitted index-segment builds for C/C++ workers.
- Lakehouse indexes & time travel — Added the
Doris × Lance durable index-job state machine
with fencing and failover replay, SHOW INDEX for Lance tables
and Parquet
INTERVALBloom pruning; implemented watermark-based batch reads in Paimon Rust and fixed Java snapshot searches with missing watermarks. - Measured performance — Sampled PQ training data before sub-vector copies in Lance, cutting 4M-row 4-bit codebook build time 69% and halving peak memory; 13–22% faster inline bitpacking decode.
Selected upstream contributions: 64 merged pull requests across 15 repositories in the Apache, DuckDB and Lance ecosystems.
