Registries like gcr.io send 'service=gcr.io' without quotes, which made json.loads raise and the pull-through signature lookup return a 500. The signature ping now also passes the repository name so the fallback token scope is valid. Generated By: Claude Opus 5.5 (cherry picked from commit 59c8b0f)

This release predates pull-through signature lookups, so this backport contains the applicable bearer challenge parser change, its unit coverage, and the changelog entry. The signature ping
