Adds PDF Flipbook Reader 0.5.0.0, a generic plugin for OMP 3.5 with a page-turning reading mode for PDF books. This update replaces the 0.4.0.0 entry. New in 0.5.0.0: each press can show the flipbook button in place of the PDF link, with or without the PDF label, and the plugin files are loaded with the plugin version in their URL.

What it does

A "Flip through" button next to every PDF on the book and chapter pages opens a full-viewport reader with a two-page spread, page-turn animation, drag and keyboard navigation, zoom and full screen. It never replaces the core PDF viewer: the ordinary PDF link stays where it was and the flipbook links back to it. StPageFlip and PDF.js ship in the package (no CDN); PDF.js is called with isEvalSupported: false, which closes CVE-2024-4367 for the bundled version.

How it plugs in

CatalogBookHandler::view at normal sequence, before pdfJsViewer, taking over only when reader=flipbook is requested for a PDF, after the core has checked access. The button script and styles are files added to the book page; the reader page reads its configuration from data attributes and keeps the core footer hook. No core file or template is replaced.

Tests

• PHPUnit tests on PKPTestCase (when the flipbook takes over, links from earlier releases, reader page, plugin class against the installed PKP, 38 locales).
• Cypress spec run by pkp/pkp-github-actions on OMP 3.5 (PHP 8.2/8.3, MySQL/PostgreSQL) — green; with a PDF book page it also renders pages, navigates, zooms and returns.
• Tests stay in the repository; the release package contains only the plugin.

Checks run before updating this

• xmllint --schema ./plugins.xsd ./plugins.xml --noout — validates.
• Each package URL resolves, unpacks as a single plugin directory without tests or CI files, and matches the md5 in the entry:

Use of generative AI

Generative AI (Claude, by Anthropic) was used to write and run tests, improve the code and bring it in line with PKP standards. Every change was reviewed and tested by OJSBR, which maintains the plugin and is responsible for its releases.
