Summary

Groups now support an icon (or emoji) and a color, following the same pattern already used for collections and templates. This was added to the Outline API in outline/outline#14011 (merged Oct 10).

Changes

  • Group object — added icon (nullable string) and color (nullable string, hex format) to the output shape.
  • groups.create — added icon and color as optional request parameters.
  • groups.update — added icon and color as optional request parameters.

color is validated against the standard ^#[0-9A-Fa-f]{6}$ hex pattern, matching how collections/templates document their colors.

Only spec3.yml was edited by hand; spec3.json was regenerated by the pre-commit hook.

Other merged PRs reviewed (no spec change needed)

  • #13580 (OKF import) — OKF import goes through the admin-only /api/imports.* routes (not documented in this spec); the public collections.import/documents.import format enums are unchanged.
  • #13999 (group membership notifications) — adds new notification event types, but the documented eventType filter is a free-form string with no enum to extend.
  • Remaining Oct 10 PRs were UI/behavior/refactor changes with no public API schema impact. Dependabot PRs ignored.
