MATRIX_HOMESERVER— Matrix homeserver address.MATRIX_USERNAMEandMATRIX_PASSWORD— bot's username and password. Create a user via Matrix Authentication Service (MAS):docker exec matrix-auth mas-cli manage register-user USERNAME --password PASSWORD.MATRIX_TOKEN— specify this variable when authenticating via token rather than username and password.
Important
Make sure the bot's data folder /app/data is bound to the host in volumes section. Otherwise, the bot will create a new session each time it's started.
Language and other additional settings are stored in a config.yml file in a folder or volume that you have bound to the /app/data/remindrix folder inside the container. Use config.example.yml as a starting point.

🐍 matrix-reminder-bot by anoadragon
Pros:
- Boasts extensive reminder functionality, including recurring reminders and alarm-style reminders with notifications.
- Supports natural language date and time recognition with virtually no limitations.
Cons:
- Built using the
matrix-nioframework, which does not support retrieving cross-signing keys or room key backups. In other words, bot device verification likely fails, requiring a fresh account with a single device. I was unable to even launch the bot on my server using the Matrix Authentication System (MAS). - Supports only English.
- Lacks time zone support.
- Lacks user-specific settings and offers limited configuration via
config.yaml. - Infrequent updates.
🌈 RemindMe by CubicrootXYZ
Pros:
- Offers the most extensive feature set of any bot.
- Supports time zones.
- Includes an API.
Cons:
- It is essentially a task manager within a messenger - or an interface for a full-fledged task management app - rather than a simple reminder bot. Its functionality is overkill for most servers.
- Supports only English.
- reminder for Maubot: supports time zones as well as multilingual command input (with an easy way to add your own language). However, it is designed for a plugin-based Matrix bot system that requires installation (though a web version of the bot is available). The last release was in 2022.
- matrix_tomato_reminder_bot by progserega: a bilingual bot based on
matrix-niowith basic functionality. - YARB by dfuchss: supports advance notifications and features a particularly interesting function for creating reminder polls with a voting deadline; these polls send the winning result to participants once the set time arrives. However, it does not support encrypted rooms or time zones. It is monolingual.
- Bots based on an obsolescent framework matrix-bot-sdk.

I am developing this bot with a focus on users, to make communication via the Matrix protocol more convenient where it is an indispensable option for personal, non-censored communication.
