Closes #1284

Summary

Adds unit tests verifying that the inlineRule parameter is correctly included in the request body for both Index.search and Client.multi_search.

The methods already accept arbitrary optional parameters and forward them, so inlineRule (new in Meilisearch v1.55 for dynamic search rule preview) works without code changes. These tests make the support explicit and prevent regressions.

Motivation

Issue #1284 asks to accept inlineRule on search and multi-search, return metadata when the appropriate header is set, and add test cases. The client is already extensible; formal tests address the testing requirement.

Implementation

  • New file tests/test_inline_rule.py with two mocked unit tests.
  • Tests confirm the parameter appears in the HTTP POST body.

Testing

  • Tests use unittest.mock.MagicMock and run without a Meilisearch instance.
  • Full end-to-end verification of the Enterprise experimental feature is left for environments that have it enabled.

Notes

Documentation of the parameter in the method docstrings is recommended in a follow-up. The response is returned as a raw dict, so metadata.inlineRuleConditionOutcomes will be present when the Meili-Include-Metadata: true header is supplied via custom_headers.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Documentation
    • Clarified how to use inlineRule with search and multi-search, including Enterprise and experimental-feature requirements.
    • Documented the metadata header required to receive inline rule condition outcomes and when that metadata may be returned.

📝 Walkthrough

The search and multi-search documentation now describes inlineRule previews and their requirements. New integration tests check pinned search results and condition outcomes in search and multi-search metadata.

Add a test for condition outcomes in response metadata.

The new tests cover request bodies, but the stated acceptance criteria also require a test for metadata.inlineRuleConditionOutcomes. Add a mocked response with that field. Supply Meili-Include-Metadata: true through custom_headers, then assert that the returned response preserves the field. This can run without an Enterprise instance.
