Enterprise Managed Authorization (EMA, also known as ID-JAG or Cross-app access) lets you use your corporate identity in compatible apps to access GitHub without completing a separate sign-in or OAuth consent flow. When you use your corporate credentials to sign in to VS Code, Claude, or another app that supports EMA, you'll have immediate access to GitHub - no JSON or extra logins required.
EMA is a rare overlap of security and usability - identity administrators can better enforce their existing IdP access policies and get more detailed audit logs while developers get a faster, easier way to connect their tools to GitHub.
Expected Outcome
This public preview is targeted at Enterprise Managed Users, whose identity is already owned by a corporate IdP. Client apps that support EMA, in conjunction with compatible IdPs such as Entra, Okta, or Ping, will be able to access GitHub on behalf of an EMU user without an additional sign in flow. When the user signs into the app using their corporate IdP credentials, they will be able to immediately start using GitHub.
