- Around line 284-286: Update the request-removal loop in pauseAudio to delete
an AR_Play request only when its audio category matches which. Preserve pending
play requests for other categories so they can reach processRequestList().
- Line 235: Add user-facing change annotations immediately above the new
isAffectedBy category matcher and the changed playback behavior code; ensure
these annotations describe those changes rather than relying on the existing
FP-guard annotations.
- Around line 259-260: Update the music toggle to call pauseAudio() instead of
stopAudio(), and change MiniAudioManager::isMusicPlaying() to return true only
when a non-paused PlayingAudio entry has event type AT_Music and its ma_sound is
playing; do not rely on the music group’s started state.
- Around line 659-669: In the MiniAudio release handling, update the reset
condition for `m_disallowSpeech` so it clears the flag only when the released
streaming event is uninterruptible. Preserve the existing streaming-event and
flag checks.

hey @elmeriniemela thanks for submitting this! could you please take a look into thecoderabbit's comments? tip: if you are using AI agent here, there is a prompt file to help handing it: .github/prompts/resolve-coderabbit-findings.prompt.md |

Thanks, I'll look into those. Do you prefer a separate commit for incremental review or should I rewrite the existing one to include all the changes? |

Feel free to send how many commits you want here, I will squash them to the main branch - github preserves your authorship on squash process. |

@coderabbitai plase ignore the OpenAL parity for this one - let's focus on Miniaudio |

Tip For best results, initiate chat on the files or code changes. @fbraz3 Thanks for the guidance. For this PR, I’ll focus on MiniAudio correctness and exclude OpenAL parity from the review scope. ✏️ Learnings added

…ng sounds GameEngine::init() pushed the main menu, which was commented out in the original code. MainMenuInit() calls showShellMap(TRUE), so the shell map and its music played under the intro movies. Remove the push again in Generals and Zero Hour; the shell map now starts when the intro is done. MiniAudio keeps music, speech and sound effects in one list: - isPlayingLowerPriority() and findLowestPrioritySound() could pick the music or speech as the sound to replace when all sound slots were full, so the menu music stopped after a few seconds. Only consider sound effects of the same kind (2D or 3D), like the Miles backend. - Music tracks played once. Loop them, like INFINITE_LOOP_COUNT in Miles. - pauseAudio() and stopAudio() stopped the whole sound group, which also silenced every sound started later (pause menu buttons, the general's lines after SUSPEND_BACKGROUND_SOUNDS). Pause or stop only the playing sounds and resume the paused ones, like Miles. - The disallow-speech flag was only cleared in notifyOfAudioCompletion(), which this backend never calls, so all speech after the first uninterruptible line was dropped. Clear it when the speech is released. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
- pauseAudio(): drop pending play requests of the paused types only, so speech queued in the same frame as SUSPEND_BACKGROUND_SOUNDS still plays - clear the disallow-speech flag only when the uninterruptible speech that set it is released - debug music toggle pauses instead of stops; isMusicPlaying() checks for an unpaused, playing music track instead of the music group - add GeneralsX change annotations Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
