Bumps mapshaper from 0.6.102 to 0.7.88.

Release notes

Sourced from mapshaper's releases.

v0.7.88

  • Added support for multiple map frames. Frames can be overlaid on other frames to make locators or insets.
  • Added corners to the curve drawing tool (Option-click creates a corner knot or toggles a knot between smooth and corner).
  • Improved curve interpolation.

v0.7.87

  • Added a curve drawing tool to the line editing toolbar, similar to the curve tool on the symbol toolbar (but for creating curved polylines not symbols).
  • mapshaper-xl now exits with code 1 on errors, like the standard mapshaper program.

v0.7.86

  • Added icon labels to the symbols panel.
  • wide-arrow arrowheads have a slightly narrower 55° point (was 60°).

v0.7.85

  • Added line-taper= (0-1) to -style and -symbols type=curve, which narrows a line toward its tail, to a point at line-taper=1, with or without arrowheads. Tapered lines can be dashed.
  • [web] Tapered lines and curves are drawn on the map. The line style panel and the symbol tool's curve section both have a Taper % control.
  • [web] Fixed curve symbols with line-fade=, which were drawn without their fade.
  • Added a wide-arrow marker to line-start=, line-end= and callout-end=: a solid arrowhead with a 60° point, blunter than arrow's 35°.
  • [web] The line style panel, the symbol tool's curve section and the label callout End buttons offer the wide arrowhead.
  • [web] Drawing sessions use much less memory.

v0.7.84

  • Added line casings (outlines): -style casing-color= casing-width= casing-opacity=. casing-width= is how far the casing extends past each edge of the line (default 1px). All of a layer's casings are drawn beneath all of its lines, so that lines join cleanly where they cross.
  • [web] The line style panel has a Casing section, with a color, opacity and width.
  • -symbols writes each symbol as attribute fields instead of an svg-symbol object: icon= (square, star, polygon, ring, pie or arrow) with icon-size=, icon-color=, icon-rotation= and parameters like icon-sides=, icon-values= and arrow-head-width=. The new ids= option gives only the listed points new symbols, so that some of a layer's symbols can be restyled.
  • Added curve symbols: -symbols type=curve draws a smooth curve through the points of a multipoint feature, fitted with Hobby's algorithm like a path label. A curve whose last point repeats its first is closed and can take a fill; an open curve can take arrowheads.
  • In quantized TopoJSON output, -o precision= now sets an exact quantization grid anchored at the origin (0, 0), so files exported with the same precision share a grid (e.g. adjacent map tiles). Decoded coordinates match the output of precision= with no-quantization.
  • [web] Added a symbol tool ("edit symbols" in the pointer menu, or "Draw: symbols" in the layer panel) for placing circles, squares, triangles and stars and drawing curves and arrows by hand.
  • Icons have a fill and a stroke of their own: icon-fill=, icon-stroke= and icon-stroke-width= (written by -symbols, and accepted by -labels). A ring is a stroke with no fill by default, and can now be given a fill, and its thickness is its icon-stroke-width=; the other shapes are filled and can be given a stroke. On a label, these style the icon apart from the text.

v0.7.83

  • Added -o html-labels option, which renders labels as HTML instead of SVG text in HTML-formatted output.

v0.7.82

  • Added padding and background color options for labels.
  • Changed open/close behavior of collapsable sections of style panels.

v0.7.81

  • Added PNG and JPEG output (e.g. -o map.png): an image of the whole map, labels included, at twice the frame's size by default (set with pixel-ratio=; JPEG quality with jpeg-quality=). From the command line, labels are drawn with installed fonts, with warnings about missing fonts and characters. The web UI doesn't offer these formats in Safari, which draws the labels of an image in system fonts only.
  • In PNG and JPEG images, and the image in HTML output, opaque polygons with a solid fill and no stroke are drawn with a hairline stroke in their fill color, which hides the faint seams that appear between adjacent polygons. SVG output is unchanged.
  • Fixed several web UI style panel glitches.

v0.7.80

  • [web] Line, polygon and label styling panels can now be minimized to make more room for editing symbols on the map.
  • [web] Adjust toolbar placement to intrude less into the main map area.
  • A map frame fitted to layers now makes room for the strokes of lines and polygons and the outer glows of polygons, so that with no margin, everything drawn falls inside the frame. ignore-symbols fits to coordinates alone, as before.
  • [web] The Add map frame dialog no longer adds a 2% margin by default when fitting a frame to the visible layers.

v0.7.79

  • -add-shape and -add-layer are now documented editing commands. -add-shape takes the -style options, closed (to make a polygon from an open path) and extend (to join a new line to the line that ends where it starts or ends).
