Summary

the web lets you see who starred your own commit from its star count but the API had no way to ask so the mobile app can't do the same

this adds GET /api/v1/commits/{commit}/stars with the web route's rules so the NativePHP app can open its own Starred by sheet

Changes

  • Api\CommitStarController@index lists who starred the commit as UserResource newest first and 20 a page like the web's CommitStarController@index
  • ListApiCommitStarsRequest lets only the author list them and anyone else gets a 404
  • people across a block either way are left out like on the web
  • it's signed requests only and the knowledge base's signed API list says so

Validation

  • php -d memory_limit=-1 vendor/bin/pest --parallel --ci --coverage --exactly=100.0 passes on 59c2e352 with 5040 tests
  • composer test:lint composer test:types composer test:type-coverage and bun run test:unit pass too
  • the new tests in CommitStarControllerTest cover order paging blocks someone else's commit and an unsigned request and they fail once the author check or the block filter is taken out
  • end to end the app's sheet loaded it from a local server on an Android emulator with paging and a retry after a failure

Independent review

  • a separate read-only review of f0d58d9a...59c2e352 returned CODE PASS with no must fix findings

Limitations

None

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • Added an API endpoint for commit authors to list users who starred their commit, ordered newest first and paginated at 20 results per page.
    • Star listings omit users involved in a block with the author.
  • Documentation
    • Updated the signed API feature list to include the new endpoint.

Walkthrough

The API adds an authenticated endpoint for commit owners to list users who starred their commit. The response excludes users involved in blocks, sorts by star creation time, and returns up to 20 users per cursor-paginated page.

Changes: Commit stargazer listing

Layer / File(s) Summary
Endpoint and owner authorization
app/Http/Requests/ListApiCommitStarsRequest.php, routes/api.php
Adds the GET /v1/commits/{commit}/stars route. The request allows access only when the authenticated user owns the commit.
Stargazer response and coverage
app/Http/Controllers/Api/CommitStarController.php, tests/Feature/Controllers/Api/CommitStarControllerTest.php, KNOWLEDGE_BASE.md
Returns stargazers as a newest-first, cursor-paginated UserResource collection and excludes users involved in blocks. Tests cover ordering, fields, pagination, block exclusions, ownership, and signed requests. The API capability list documents the endpoint.

Merge Risk: Minimal · up to 59c2e

No concrete merge-blocking issue was found. Stronger pagination assertions would improve regression coverage.

Security architecture risk: Low · up to 59c2e

The new read-only endpoint preserves the existing owner-only access rule, excludes people blocked in either direction and returns an explicit set of profile fields. No introduced authorization bypass or sensitive-field disclosure was identified. Confidence is bounded by source review rather than independent runtime validation.

Retained concerns
No architecture-level concerns identified.

Security review details

Security Blast Radius

  • inferred — The added disclosure capability is bounded to the requesting owner's commits and their non-blocked stargazers. Possession of another valid account's signing credentials does not satisfy the commit-ownership check. No new administrative, cross-service or datastore-wide authority is introduced by the listing action.

Security Findings and Attack Paths

  • inferred — The inspected paths did not establish an unsigned-access, cross-owner enumeration or blocked-user disclosure bypass. Unsigned callers encounter mandatory authentication, signed non-owners encounter not-found authorization, and authorized queries exclude blocks in either direction. These conclusions are source-bounded, not an independent runtime security verification.

Trust Boundaries and Controls

  • observed — The new route is in the mandatory signed-request group, not the neighboring optional-authentication group. The block exclusion unions IDs the owner blocks with IDs blocking the owner, using the corresponding directional relationship keys. Both controls preserve the intended private-list boundary.

Resilience and Maintainability Implications

  • inferred — The new listing introduces no persistent multi-step transition or recovery obligation. Its query and authorization mirror the existing web listing, although the separate authorization requests remain parallel implementations of the same owner-only rule.

Explanation

Docstring coverage is 100.00% which is sufficient. The required threshold is 80.00%. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff with cyclomatic complexity of at least 2. Documentation-only edits and deletions within surviving functions are included; unchanged diff context and fully deleted functions are excluded. Analyzed 1 functions across 4 files. Assert the starrer identities across both pages.

UserResource serializes id from the underlying User, so the fixture model IDs are valid expectations. The current assertions allow a duplicate second-page user while omitting another starrer.
