Closes #1.

Rationale for this change

The maintained Daxis native stack uses DataFusion 55. The former declared Python 53 consumer crashed during native table registration. The exact official parent here already uses DataFusion 55 but labels its package 54; no released 55 wheel was available when this prerequisite was prepared. A separately identified fork consumer lets downstream admission require the correct major and pin its source.

What changes are included in this PR?

  • Identify workspace packages and the path utility dependency as 55.0.0+axon.1.
  • Align object_store with the Native 55 stack at 0.14.1.
  • Pin every consumed DataFusion, Arrow/Parquet and object_store package to the immutable Daxis revisions recorded in Cargo.toml and Cargo.lock.
  • Add axon/native-stack to existing workflow branch filters while preserving all jobs.
  • Use the official native actionlint hook at the same v1.7.12 pin, avoiding a Docker daemon requirement.
  • Document the official parent, native fork identities and compatibility build status.

No Rust or Python API bodies change. The official parent is 2f528d2. DataFusion is pinned to 5791b64dd7ce8e72654f99534d3d8d9dacc41b6b, Arrow to e95302d431a14e3980fb75f5bdd26eb02e4b7a85, and object_store to 98d8d82931cee1861bd500f2a09058ff31123c8a.

Final-source local validation used two sequential Cargo jobs, retained targets, debug/incremental information disabled, per-job timeouts and a disk floor:

  • Native 55 compatibility wheel built and installed in isolated owning/downstream environments.
  • All pre-commit hooks passed, including Rust clippy, formatting, actionlint, Ruff, codespell and uv-lock.
  • Complete owning Python/doctest suite: 1,362 passed, 7 existing skips.
  • Exact fixture submodules: arrow-testing 5bab2f264a23f5af68f69ea93d24ef1e8e77fc88 and parquet-testing e13af117de7c4f0a4d9908ae3827b3ab119868f3.
  • Independent read-only review verified the source graph, frozen hashes, lane/log receipts and final wheel.

The retained DATAFUSION-PYTHON-FINAL-V3-VERIFICATION-RECEIPTS.json binds the seven-file final-source freeze, commands, logs and wheel identity. The original major-53 crash and earlier missing-fixture, sandbox and interrupted attempts remain separate failed receipts.

Are there any user-facing changes?

This fork builds package 55.0.0+axon.1, an Axon compatibility consumer rather than an Apache release. It targets the maintained axon/native-stack branch. Downstream installs must pin the compatibility source commit.

Final consumer source is 44d67eb. The corrected delta-rs major-55 guard and actual registration now pass all seven guard/integration tests, including full schema (with Utf8/Utf8View storage equivalence) and ordered rows. The original major-53 crash remains retained. Full remote CI on this final source passed: 22 successful checks and 4 existing release-specific skips, including all platform builds and Python 3.10/3.11/3.12/3.13/3.14/3.14t test lanes. A fresh independent read-only review verified the final source freeze and complete CI results. This prerequisite is ready for review; no merge, release, or deployment has been performed.
