<Update label="November 4, 2026" description="VPC" tags={["Connect", "Patch"]}>
## Read-only access to VPC pages

Members with read-only access can now open the VPC pages in the cloud portal.

- **Fixed:** viewers no longer get a permission error when they open **VPC**. Viewing a network needs only list and get access.
- **Changed:** create, edit, **Enable IPv6**, and delete controls for networks and network services appear only when you have permission to use them.

See [gVPC](/galactic-vpc/overview).
</Update>

<Update label="November 3, 2026" description="Private DNS" tags={["Connect", "Patch"]}>
## Private DNS zones show their VPC

Private DNS zones are now easier to identify in the cloud portal.

- **Changed:** the DNS list shows **Private** in the DNS host column for private zones, instead of a lookup that never finishes.
- **Changed:** each VPC's private zone is described as "Private DNS for the ‹network› VPC", so you can see which network it serves.

Did you really mean 'VPC's'?
- **Changed:** the zone page hides the **Nameservers** tab for private zones, which have no public nameservers.

See [Private DNS](/domain-dns/private-dns).
</Update>

<Update label="November 2, 2026" description="Billing" tags={["GA"]}>
## Billing in the cloud portal is generally available

Organization owners can now manage billing in the [cloud portal](https://cloud.datum.net) without a feature flag.

- **Owners only:** billing accounts, payment methods, and invoices are visible to organization owners. Other members don't see billing pages or links.
- **Payment terms:** if you can't pay by card, select **Can't pay by card? Apply for payment terms** under the payment method field. You can track the application's status, withdraw it and add a card instead, or apply again after a decline.
- **One invoice email:** billing settings now have a single **Invoice email** field. Leave it empty to send invoices to the billing contact.
- **Discounts:** a read-only **Discounts** section shows any discount that applies to your account. Discounts are applied to invoices automatically.
- **Fixed:** old invoices that are no longer updated no longer appear as open or past due in the invoice list.
</Update>

<Update label="October 30, 2026" description="Network Load Balancer" tags={["Deliver", "Early access"]}>
## Network Load Balancers

Publish a network service on a public TCP or UDP port with a Network Load Balancer (NLB).

- **Listeners and routes:** an NLB holds listeners on public ports, and a route connects each listener to a [network service](/galactic-vpc/networks/network-services).
- **Addresses:** each location gets a public IPv6 address and a generated hostname you can point a CNAME at.
- **Health checks:** active health checks keep failed backends out of rotation.
- **Cloud portal:** open **NLB** in a project to create load balancers, see each listener's address, backend, and health, and add, edit, or delete listeners.
- **UDP network services:** network service ports can now use UDP. The create-service dialog has a TCP or UDP selector for each port, and two ports can share a number when their protocols differ.

This is an early-access capability. TLS listeners aren't supported yet, but opaque TLS on a TCP listener works. Each route supports one backend.
</Update>

## Clearer DNS status for external hostnames

The cloud portal now shows whether a custom hostname with DNS hosted outside Datum points at your ALB.

- **Fixed:** the DNS status no longer spins forever for hostnames whose DNS is hosted elsewhere.
- **DNS Ready** shows once Datum sees your CNAME, or matching IP addresses, pointing at the ALB.
- **Awaiting DNS** shows until then. Its tooltip names the record to add.

Did you really mean 'tooltip'?
