feat(stack-encrypt): encrypt and decrypt owned Vec<S> collections as one batch - #1501
stack-encrypt is the Rust engine that encrypts a value under its own per-value key from CipherStash ZeroKMS (the key service). Its owned API, value.encrypt_into(&keyset) and T::decrypt_from(ciphertext, &keyset), took one scalar at a time: a Vec<i32> had no owned path, so a caller with a column of values either looped (one key request per value) or fell back to the older borrowed structural API. This PR makes a Vec of owned plaintexts encrypt into a Vec of any owned target, and back, through the same two traits: vec![29i32, 34].encrypt_into::<Vec<Ciphertext>, _>(&keyset) needs no caller context, Vec::<i32>::decrypt_from(column, &keyset) opens it, and the whole column is one logical batch (one generate_keys call to seal, one retrieve_keys call per keyset to open, none for an empty column).
Each element is still its own ciphertext, sealed under its own key and authenticated on its own, so any element opens alone through keyset.decrypt, and order and length are deliberately not authenticated (stored values are rows, which come back in any order and in part; see ADR-0010). The column takes the element target's caller-context capability as its own, so a column of a RequiredContext target still cannot omit its context and a column of a NoCallerContext target still cannot be handed one; Default grants neither. The vector is held in one Protected guard and wiped before the pending request is returned, with no Clone bound, and a column that fails after some elements were recovered wipes those before returning the error.
Changes
Engine (packages/stack-encrypt/src)
target/collections.rs (new): impl EncryptTarget<Vec<S>> for Vec<T> and impl DecryptSource<Vec<P>> for Vec<T>, each with ContextInput = T::ContextInput. Elements are handed to the element declaration by reference from the guarded vector (no clone); results are merged with Pending::collect in element order, stopping at the first element whose declaration fails.
target/pending.rs: collect now goes through one private collect_releasing; new crate-private collect_wiping zeroizes the already-recovered prefix when a later item fails at fulfilment or its conversion panics (the prefix is held in a guard that releases it on drop unless every item succeeded). Pending::all and the legacy Vec<T> paths keep their exact behaviour.
target/operations.rs: crate-private Encryption::from_build (the dynamic module's chosen now delegates to it) and Decryption::all_wiping; all is refactored over a shared openings helper with no behaviour change.
Docs: a "Collections" section in the crate docs with an executable example (context-free and with context), OpaqueEncode and target module docs updated. Vec<u8> is stated as not a column of scalars: Vitamin C gives u8 no source or target because it keeps Vec<u8> a byte leaf, so a byte vector compiles to neither a column of bytes nor one Ciphertext here (a whole byte vector is blob work, separate from this PR).
Tests (packages/stack-encrypt/tests)
collections.rs (new, 13 tests, hermetic fake key source): round trips with and without context, one generate/retrieve call per column, element order, empty column makes no key request, elements open individually and reorder/subset freely while a tampered or wrong-type element fails the column, foreign keyset refused before retrieval, nested Vec<Vec<_>> as one batch, RequiredContext and NoCallerContext element targets, every element wiped before the pending is returned (including on a refused context and a panicking context conversion, with a non-Clone plaintext), a late element failure wiping the recovered prefix, and a panicking element conversion wiping it during the unwind.
ui/owned_collection_elements.rs, ui/owned_collection_context.rs (compile-fail): Vec<u8>, Vec<Option<i32>> and Vec<&str> are not columns of opaque scalars, neither Vec<u8> nor Vec<i32> encrypts into one Ciphertext, and Vec<u8> / Vec<Option<i32>> do not decrypt from a column; a column of a RequiredContext target cannot omit the context (even for u64: Default) and a column of a NoCallerContext target cannot be given one. ui/pass/owned_collections.rs pins the forms that must compile. No existing .stderr changed.
lifecycle_conformance.rs: four owned-column probes (unpolled drop releases captures without key I/O, in-flight cancellation drops the provider future and captures, one logical batch with captures released once on success and provider failure, empty column makes no provider call).
heap_hygiene.rs: an owned Vec<String> column sealed through its guard, and a late type failure in Vec<Ciphertext> -> Vec<String>, both free no block still holding the marked plaintext. Removing the wipe makes the second test and the drop-witness test fail. The heap observer only scans freed blocks, so a leaked (mem::forget) prefix or source passes it; the drop witnesses in collections.rs catch that, which is why they are enrolled too.
Conformance (conformance/stack-encrypt)
v1/lifecycle-profiles.json: a collections suite (the collections test binary) whose five drop-witness tests are enrolled under lifecycle-partial-output-v1 and lifecycle-buffer-cleanup-v1, and the six new lifecycle/heap tests enrolled as evidence under the existing lifecycle-ownership-v1, lifecycle-cancellation-v1, lifecycle-partial-output-v1, lifecycle-buffer-cleanup-v1 and lifecycle-logical-batching-v1 requirements. lifecycle-contract.md and coverage.md name the owned conversion in those rows, and the native-heap-observer-exclusions limitation now states that never-freed blocks are not observed.
Example and changelog
examples/scalar.rs gains a column round trip (needs live credentials, as before); the crate-docs example is the executable one.
CHANGELOG.md[Unreleased] / ### Added bullet.
Verification
Run from the worktree with no CipherStash credentials.
STACK_CONFORMANCE_REQUIRED=1 mise x --env test -- cargo nextest run -p stack-encrypt -p stack-encrypt-derive --all-features: 1110 tests run, 1110 passed, 1 skipped (the pre-existing #[ignore]d fixture writer stored_rows::write_stored_rows_v1). Includes the trybuild ui binary with the two new compile-fail cases and the new pass case; no pre-existing .stderr changed.
cargo test -p stack-encrypt --doc --all-features: 55 passed, 0 failed (includes the new collections example in the crate docs).
mise run doc:stack-encrypt (rustdoc, warnings are errors): clean, no warnings.
npx vitest run scripts/__tests__/stack-lifecycle-conformance.test.mjs scripts/__tests__/stack-conformance-ci.test.mjs: 11 passed. These check the profile index shape, requirement IDs, suite boundaries and the CI wiring against the edited files.
Guard non-vacuity: with Decryption::all_wiping swapped for all in collections.rs, a_late_element_failure_wipes_the_plaintext_recovered_before_it fails ("owned plaintext dropped without wiping") and a_late_type_failure_in_an_owned_column_leaves_no_plaintext_on_the_heap fails ("1 heap blocks were freed with plaintext in them"); restored, both pass.
mise x --env test -- cargo nextest list --test lifecycle_conformance --test heap_hygiene -E 'test(/owned_column/)': all six enrolled names compiled and selectable.
MISE_ENV=test mise x --env test -- node scripts/stack-lifecycle-conformance.mjs rust: every Rust suite, including the new collections suite (5 required tests), ran and passed.
Not run here: mise run test:conformance:lifecycle end to end, which also runs the Go suites and needs both WASI guests built. The Rust half is the run above; CI's wasi-check job runs the full task.
Builds on #1470 (owned scalar conversion) and #1475 (context composition, PR #1491). Whole-value collection storage (OpaqueBlob<T>) is #1484 and is not touched here.
Review notes
Start with packages/stack-encrypt/src/target/collections.rs (two impls, ~70 lines) and tests/collections.rs; the pending.rs change is the only behaviour added to shared code and only the owned path reaches it.
Vec<u8> -> Vec<Ciphertext> is deliberately not supported, rather than implemented over a Stack-private u8 encoding: Vitamin C's source model has no u8 leaf (vitaminc-aeadplaintext/sources.rs and typed.rs say why), and adding one here would create an element encoding vitaminc cannot read. The compile-fail test records the refusal; the plan's "encrypt individual bytes" reading would need a vitaminc change first.
Nullable elements (Vec<Option<S>>) stay with encrypt_tree, as Option<S> scalars did in the scalar slice; the compile-fail test pins that too.
No Go change: the owned Vec<S> -> Vec<T> conversion is a Rust-only surface, and Go reaches batching through its record interface, which the existing runtime profile instruments. The conformance enrollment is native evidence under existing requirement IDs, which is what the lifecycle contract asks for ("add evidence to the existing requirement where possible"); no new shared vector file was added because the lifecycle profile is backend-specific by design.
No skill or changeset: stack-encrypt is a crates.io crate outside the npm release train, and no skills/* document describes the Rust API.
Summary by CodeRabbit
New Features
Encrypt and decrypt owned vectors of supported values element by element, including nested collections and values that do not implement Clone.
Each element is independently authenticated, with caller context applied where supported. Empty vectors are supported, and non-empty vectors are processed as a logical batch.
Plaintext is wiped when encryption begins and recovered values are cleaned up after decryption failures or panics. Byte vectors remain byte blobs, not element-wise ciphertext columns.
Documentation
Added guidance and examples for collection conversions, context handling, batching, and supported value types.
…one batch
`Vec<T>` now implements `EncryptTarget<Vec<S>>` and `DecryptSource<Vec<P>>`
for any owned element target, so a column of owned plaintexts reaches
`EncryptInto` and `DecryptFrom` directly: `Vec<i32>` to `Vec<Ciphertext>`
needs no caller context, and the column's `ContextInput` is the element's,
so a `RequiredContext` target still cannot be omitted and a
`NoCallerContext` target still cannot be handed one. `Default` plays no
part in either.
The element declaration runs once per element over a borrow of the guarded
vector, so no `Clone` bound is added and the source is wiped before the
pending is returned, including when the context is refused or its
conversion panics. The elements' key requests merge into one logical
batch in element order, with no request for an empty column; each element
is sealed under its own key and authenticated on its own, so order and
length are deliberately not bound (ADR-0010).
A collection of recovered plaintext that fails after some elements were
opened now wipes that prefix before returning the error:
`Pending::collect_wiping` and `Decryption::all_wiping` sit beside the
unchanged `collect` and `all`. Removing the wipe fails both the drop-witness
test and the heap observer, so the guard is load-bearing.
`Vec<u8>` stays a compile error: Vitamin C gives `u8` no source or target
because it keeps `Vec<u8>` a byte leaf, so a byte vector is neither a
column of bytes nor one ciphertext here; a whole byte vector is blob work.
Nullable elements stay on `encrypt_tree`. Both refusals are pinned in
`tests/ui`.
Refs #1482
The owned `Vec<S>` to `Vec<T>` conversion gets the same lifecycle probes a
record operation has: an unpolled drop releases captures without key I/O,
an in-flight cancellation drops the provider future and captures, a column
is one logical batch whose captures release once on success and provider
failure, and an empty column makes no provider call. The heap observer
watches a `Vec<String>` column sealed through its guard, and a late type
failure in `Vec<Ciphertext>` to `Vec<String>`, for unwiped frees.
All six are enrolled in `lifecycle-profiles.json` under the existing
requirement IDs, as the lifecycle contract asks, and the contract and
coverage documents name the owned conversion in those rows. No Go change:
the conversion is a Rust-only surface, and Go reaches batching through its
record interface, which the runtime profile already instruments.

Walkthrough
This change adds owned Vec<S>-to-Vec<T> encryption and decryption conversions. It batches element key operations, inherits element context requirements, and adds cleanup for owned plaintext and partially recovered plaintext. Tests, examples, and lifecycle conformance coverage exercise these behaviors and unsupported collection shapes.
Vec<S> converts to and from vectors of element targets or sources, inheriting the element context type. Documentation and examples describe per-element authentication, batching, empty vectors, context handling, and supported collection shapes.
Conversion and capability tests packages/stack-encrypt/tests/collections.rs, packages/stack-encrypt/tests/ui/*
Tests cover round trips, contexts, empty and nested vectors, ordering, authentication failures, unsupported element types, and compile-time context capabilities.
Cleanup and lifecycle evidence packages/stack-encrypt/tests/heap_hygiene.rs, packages/stack-encrypt/tests/lifecycle_conformance.rs, conformance/stack-encrypt/*
Tests and conformance profiles cover source wiping, cleanup after late failures or panics, cancellation, provider batches, empty columns, and heap-observer limitations.

The owned collection conversions have no established merge-blocking defect. Structural collection decryption retains a pre-existing plaintext-cleanup issue that should be addressed separately. Mergeability remains subject to normal checks.

Explanation
Issue #1482 requirements are met. target/collections.rs adds owned Vec<S> to Vec<T> encryption and decryption, including context-free scalar columns. Pending::collect merges element requests into one logical batch, preserves order, supports empty columns, and retains provider request splitting. Each element remains independently authenticated. The collection inherits ContextInput, and the UI tests cover required and forbidden caller context. Recovered, collect_wiping, and all_wiping cover construction failure, cancellation, partial output, panics, and non-Clone plaintext. Existing scalar and structural API boundaries remain enforced by the compile-fail tests. Documentation and tests cover Vec<u8>, nullable elements, examples, lifecycle behavior, heap cleanup, and conformance coverage.
Full details: Out of Scope Changes check
Explanation
The changed engine code implements the collection conversion required by #1482. The pending and decryption changes provide the required cleanup behavior. The examples, documentation, compile-fail tests, lifecycle tests, heap tests, changelog, and conformance profile provide direct support for the issue. The changes explicitly exclude whole-value collection storage for #1484 and do not add unrelated Go or release-train work.

Reviewed 89806953a against feat/stack-encrypt-lifecycle-conformance and #1482. Locally the collections, heap_hygiene and lifecycle_conformance binaries pass (36 tests). I ran four hand mutations; their results are cited below.
Standards
The enrolled heap evidence cannot see a leak, and the test that can is not enrolled (tests/heap_hygiene.rs:377, :395; conformance/stack-encrypt/v1/lifecycle-profiles.json:128). The spy only scans blocks that are freed. I replaced the prefix wipe in collect_wiping (src/target/pending.rs:352) with std::mem::forget(recovered), and a_late_type_failure_in_an_owned_column_leaves_no_plaintext_on_the_heap still passed. Only collections::a_late_element_failure_wipes_the_plaintext_recovered_before_it failed. The same happened on the encrypt side: I replaced Protected::new(self) in EncryptInto with ManuallyDrop::new(self), which leaks the column. an_owned_column_encrypted_leaves_no_plaintext_on_the_heap passed, and only owned_elements_are_wiped_before_the_pending_is_returned failed. (A plain unwiped drop is caught by both heap tests, so they do have some value.) The result is that lifecycle-partial-output-v1 and lifecycle-buffer-cleanup-v1 cite evidence that would pass on a leaked plaintext. The drop-witness tests that would catch it are in a binary the profile does not run. The native-heap-observer-exclusions limitation also does not say that never-freed blocks go unobserved. CONFIRMED (mutation).
Duplicated code (src/target/operations.rs:822-849). all and all_wiping repeat the same openings match and differ only in collect vs collect_wiping. It is small and the shared helper already exists. This is a judgement call.
Checked and fine: no unsafe added; no issue numbers in code, docs or contract files (the CHANGELOG (#1482) is allowed); the CHANGELOG [Unreleased] entry is present and accurate; no new Debug or diagnostic path carries plaintext. Order and length not being authenticated is ADR-0010 and is not reported.
Spec
Partial execution is not guarded against a panicking element conversion (src/target/pending.rs:396). recovered is a plain Vec<T>, and release runs only on the Err arm. If an element's DecryptSource conversion (a user .map) panics after earlier elements were recovered, the unwind drops them without wiping. I added a test (a two-element column whose second conversion panics, run under catch_unwind), and it fails on wiped[0]. The encrypt side does handle a panic, because Protected covers the context conversion, so this applies to the decrypt side only. CONFIRMED (test).
The compile-fail tests do not pin the "one opaque ciphertext" reading (tests/ui/owned_collection_elements.rs). lib.rs:283-287 and target/collections.rs:18-22 say a byte vector compiles to neither a column nor one Ciphertext. Only the column form is pinned. Nothing pins vec![1u8].encrypt_into::<Ciphertext, _> or vec![1i32].encrypt_into::<Ciphertext, _>. On the decrypt side, nothing pins Vec::<u8>::decrypt_from or Vec::<Option<i32>>::decrypt_from either. These refusals hold today, but nothing records them. CONFIRMED (by reading the UI suite).
Met:
One logical batch, element order, empty column, per-element authentication and foreign-keyset refusal, all tested.
ContextInput is propagated, and Default is not used; the RequiredContext<u64> UI case pins this.
There is no Clone bound on the plaintext. The T::ContextInput: Clone bound is on the AAD, not on secret material.
keyset.encrypt(vec![..]) is still refused (scalar_collections_and_borrows.rs), and encrypt_tree is untouched.
The executable crate-doc example runs.
Provider chunk limits apply because the column settles through the same path as records. That holds by construction, not through an owned-column test.
Review-notes justifications hold.vitaminc-aeadplaintext/sources.rs says u8 is deliberately not a source, because it would overlap the Vec<u8> byte leaf. Refusing Vec<u8> is the explicit resolution, not a gap. Deferring Option<S> matches the scalar slice. No Go change is needed for a Rust-only surface.
Counts: Standards 2 (worst: the enrolled heap evidence is blind to a leaked plaintext). Spec 2 (worst: a panicking element conversion drops the recovered prefix unwiped).
All fixes are on top of 89806953a, pushed as 70eb74480.
Standards
The enrolled heap evidence could not see a leak. Fixed in 70eb74480.
A new collections suite in lifecycle-profiles.json enrolls the drop-witness tests that fail on a leaked or unwiped plaintext. Under lifecycle-partial-output-v1, these are a_late_element_failure_wipes_the_plaintext_recovered_before_it and the new panic test. Under lifecycle-buffer-cleanup-v1, these are the three owned_elements_are_* source-wipe tests.
The native-heap-observer-exclusions limitation now says that the observer sees only freed blocks, and names the witnesses that cover the gap for the owned conversion.
I did not extend the spy itself to scan live blocks. The spy belongs to the base branch, and that change would cover every heap test, not just this PR's.
node scripts/stack-lifecycle-conformance.mjs rust runs the new suite (5 required tests), and it passes.
Duplicated all / all_wiping: declined. To factor out the two arms, I would have to pass Pending::collect / collect_wiping as a higher-ranked function over the cipher lifetime. That signature is harder to read than the two eight-line bodies it would replace.
Spec
A panicking element conversion dropped the recovered prefix unwiped. Fixed in 25d6b747e.
collect_releasing now holds the prefix in a private Recovered guard. The guard hands the prefix to release on drop, unless every item succeeded, so an error return and an unwind take the same path. The non-wiping collect keeps its behaviour, because release is drop.
New test: a_panicking_element_conversion_wipes_the_plaintext_recovered_before_it. It failed before the fix and passes after it.
I updated the CHANGELOG bullet and the crate docs.
The "one opaque ciphertext" reading and the decrypt side were not pinned. Fixed in 1b9f69c89. ui/owned_collection_elements.rs now also refuses the following:
vec![1u8].encrypt_into::<Ciphertext, _>, with Vec<u8>: OpaqueEncode
vec![1i32].encrypt_into::<Ciphertext, _>, with Vec<i32>: OpaqueEncode
Vec::<u8>::decrypt_from, with u8: OpaqueDecode
Vec::<Option<i32>>::decrypt_from, with Option<i32>: OpaqueDecode
Each case fails for its intended reason.

Wipe recovered plaintext in the structural Vec<P> decryption path.
DecryptInto<Vec<P>> and DecryptField<Vec<P>> for Vec<T> open through Decryption::all. That path drops recovered values unwiped when a later element fails. Open them through all_wiping instead. That change adds a P: Zeroize bound to these public impls.

Update the Vec<T> implementations of DecryptInto<Vec<P>> and
DecryptField<Vec<P>> to open elements through Decryption::all_wiping instead of
Decryption::all, and add the required P: Zeroize bounds to both public impls.

Re CodeRabbit's finding on operations.rs (legacy structural DecryptInto<Vec<P>> / DecryptField<Vec<P>> open through Decryption::all and leave recovered elements unwiped when a later element fails):
The observation is right, and it is pre-existing: this PR adds the owned Vec<S> -> Vec<T> path, which wipes through all_wiping and the Recovered guard, and deliberately leaves the legacy EncryptFrom / DecryptInto surface byte-for-byte as it was. Wiping on the legacy path needs a P: Zeroize bound on public impls, which is a breaking change to the surface that the stacked PR for #1483 is migrating onto the owned declarations. That PR will route the legacy Vec decrypt through the wiping path (or document and test the deprecated bridge) with the matching Breaking changelog bullet and a test that fails without the wipe, so the bound lands once, with the migration, rather than twice.
…ot the method
Calling `encrypt_into` as a method on `Vec<&str>` fails method resolution
(E0599), and rustc then quotes the `Vec` definition from the standard
library source when the `rust-src` component is installed. CI's toolchain
does not install it, so the recorded expectation matched locally and not
in CI. Calling the trait function directly fails on the element bound
instead (`&str: OpaqueEncode`), which names the actual refusal and prints
the same text with or without `rust-src`.

Summary
stack-encryptis the Rust engine that encrypts a value under its own per-value key from CipherStash ZeroKMS (the key service). Its owned API,value.encrypt_into(&keyset)andT::decrypt_from(ciphertext, &keyset), took one scalar at a time: aVec<i32>had no owned path, so a caller with a column of values either looped (one key request per value) or fell back to the older borrowed structural API. This PR makes aVecof owned plaintexts encrypt into aVecof any owned target, and back, through the same two traits:vec![29i32, 34].encrypt_into::<Vec<Ciphertext>, _>(&keyset)needs no caller context,Vec::<i32>::decrypt_from(column, &keyset)opens it, and the whole column is one logical batch (onegenerate_keyscall to seal, oneretrieve_keyscall per keyset to open, none for an empty column). Each element is still its own ciphertext, sealed under its own key and authenticated on its own, so any element opens alone through
keyset.decrypt, and order and length are deliberately not authenticated (stored values are rows, which come back in any order and in part; see ADR-0010). The column takes the element target's caller-context capability as its own, so a column of aRequiredContexttarget still cannot omit its context and a column of aNoCallerContexttarget still cannot be handed one;Defaultgrants neither. The vector is held in oneProtectedguard and wiped before the pending request is returned, with noClonebound, and a column that fails after some elements were recovered wipes those before returning the error.Changes

packages/stack-encrypt/tests)collections.rs(new, 13 tests, hermetic fake key source): round trips with and without context, one generate/retrieve call per column, element order, empty column makes no key request, elements open individually and reorder/subset freely while a tampered or wrong-type element fails the column, foreign keyset refused before retrieval, nestedVec<Vec<_>>as one batch,RequiredContextandNoCallerContextelement targets, every element wiped before the pending is returned (including on a refused context and a panicking context conversion, with a non-Cloneplaintext), a late element failure wiping the recovered prefix, and a panicking element conversion wiping it during the unwind.ui/owned_collection_elements.rs,ui/owned_collection_context.rs(compile-fail):Vec<u8>,Vec<Option<i32>>andVec<&str>are not columns of opaque scalars, neitherVec<u8>norVec<i32>encrypts into oneCiphertext, andVec<u8>/Vec<Option<i32>>do not decrypt from a column; a column of aRequiredContexttarget cannot omit the context (even foru64: Default) and a column of aNoCallerContexttarget cannot be given one.ui/pass/owned_collections.rspins the forms that must compile. No existing.stderrchanged.lifecycle_conformance.rs: four owned-column probes (unpolled drop releases captures without key I/O, in-flight cancellation drops the provider future and captures, one logical batch with captures released once on success and provider failure, empty column makes no provider call).heap_hygiene.rs: an ownedVec<String>column sealed through its guard, and a late type failure inVec<Ciphertext> -> Vec<String>, both free no block still holding the marked plaintext. Removing the wipe makes the second test and the drop-witness test fail. The heap observer only scans freed blocks, so a leaked (mem::forget) prefix or source passes it; the drop witnesses incollections.rscatch that, which is why they are enrolled too.Conformance (
conformance/stack-encrypt)v1/lifecycle-profiles.json: acollectionssuite (thecollectionstest binary) whose five drop-witness tests are enrolled underlifecycle-partial-output-v1andlifecycle-buffer-cleanup-v1, and the six new lifecycle/heap tests enrolled as evidence under the existinglifecycle-ownership-v1,lifecycle-cancellation-v1,lifecycle-partial-output-v1,lifecycle-buffer-cleanup-v1andlifecycle-logical-batching-v1requirements.lifecycle-contract.mdandcoverage.mdname the owned conversion in those rows, and thenative-heap-observer-exclusionslimitation now states that never-freed blocks are not observed.Example and changelog
examples/scalar.rsgains a column round trip (needs live credentials, as before); the crate-docs example is the executable one.CHANGELOG.md[Unreleased]/### Addedbullet.Verification

Closes #1482
Builds on #1470 (owned scalar conversion) and #1475 (context composition, PR #1491). Whole-value collection storage (
OpaqueBlob<T>) is #1484 and is not touched here.Review notes
packages/stack-encrypt/src/target/collections.rs(two impls, ~70 lines) andtests/collections.rs; thepending.rschange is the only behaviour added to shared code and only the owned path reaches it.Vec<u8> -> Vec<Ciphertext>is deliberately not supported, rather than implemented over a Stack-privateu8encoding: Vitamin C's source model has nou8leaf (vitaminc-aeadplaintext/sources.rsandtyped.rssay why), and adding one here would create an element encoding vitaminc cannot read. The compile-fail test records the refusal; the plan's "encrypt individual bytes" reading would need a vitaminc change first.Vec<Option<S>>) stay withencrypt_tree, asOption<S>scalars did in the scalar slice; the compile-fail test pins that too.Vec<S> -> Vec<T>conversion is a Rust-only surface, and Go reaches batching through its record interface, which the existing runtime profile instruments. The conformance enrollment is native evidence under existing requirement IDs, which is what the lifecycle contract asks for ("add evidence to the existing requirement where possible"); no new shared vector file was added because the lifecycle profile is backend-specific by design.stack-encryptis a crates.io crate outside the npm release train, and noskills/*document describes the Rust API.Summary by CodeRabbit
