Summary

  • Added perception/misc/README.md to document the purpose of the miscellaneous perception experiments folder.
  • Added perception/third_party/README.md to document the purpose of vendored third-party code.

Details

perception/misc/README.md explains that the folder contains older exploratory scripts, notebooks, calibration utilities, and experimental image-processing code that has not been promoted into task-specific packages.

It also documents current contents such as:

  • dark_channel/
  • combined_filter.py
  • combinedFilTest.py
  • calibration and optical-flow utilities
  • older notebooks and label data

perception/third_party/README.md explains that the folder is for vendored external code used by perception tasks but not maintained as first-party project code.

It currently documents:

  • sort/, the vendored SORT multi-object tracker implementation

Guidelines Added

The READMEs clarify that:

  • production task code should live under perception/tasks/<task>/
  • reusable perception code should move into task-owned/shared modules with tests
  • vendored dependencies should keep their upstream license and README files
  • large generated outputs and datasets should stay out of third_party/

Testing

Docs-only change. No tests run.
