Summary

Adds packages/uipath-codex-sdk: run OpenAI Codex SDK agents on the UiPath platform, with the UiPath tool set LangChain and low-code agents have.

The integration wraps the codex binary bundled with openai-codex and sits in its two outbound channels:

Models: codex's model_provider points at a loopback proxy that forwards each /v1/responses call to the tenant's LLM Gateway as an OpenAI Responses passthrough (UiPathHttpxAsyncClient). No OpenAI key; OpenAI models only.
Tools: UiPath tools are served to codex from an in-process MCP tool host (uipath_tools). Immediate tools answer right away; durable tools start platform work and hold the call open.

What's in it

Runtime on the uipath-runtime protocols: UiPathRuntimeProtocol / factory (registered for codex.json), wrapped in UiPathResumableRuntime over a SQLite store, plus a UiPathResumeTriggerHandler subclass. A durable call suspends the run: the codex conversation (rollout) and pending calls are saved, codex is stopped, and the job resumes (possibly on another robot) with the platform's results injected under the original call ids.
UiPath tools, as code factories and *_from_resource builders for agent.json resources (including argumentProperties):

Conversational agents (second commit), enabled with uipath.json → runtimeOptions.isConversational: one chat exchange per run on a single Codex thread kept in the state store under the conversation id (each exchange ends SUSPENDED with no triggers, so the chat service gets endExchange); streamed assistant text, tool calls as chat tool cards, files sent in chat usable by the attachment tools, durable tools inside an exchange; one Conversational agent run - <name> span per exchange. Sample samples/chat-agent.
MCP servers (stdio, remote, UiPath-hosted), structured output, codex built-in tools with a configurable sandbox (read-only by default).
Tracing in the low-code agent span schema: one Agent run per job across suspensions, LLM call → gateway Model run, Tool call with each tool's low-code child span.
Evals: tool mocking (mockito, LLM, simulate-component) for every UiPath tool, including durable ones (a mocked durable call never suspends), input mocking, --simulation.
Bindings: platform calls go through resource_override, so bindings.json / Package Requirements remaps apply.
19 samples (each with a README; several with mocked eval sets).

Testing

pytest: 580 tests, including offline end-to-end tests against the real bundled codex binary (mock model, fake platform).
On a tenant (alpha), locally and as Orchestrator jobs, including:

- uipath eval with mocked tools of every kind, reporting to Studio Web, evals started from Studio Web
- bindings overrides (process, index, connection, app), including a Package Requirements remap in Orchestrator
- models gpt-5.6-terra, gpt-6.1-sol, gpt-5-mini-2025-08-07
- conversational agent: multi-exchange memory locally, and from the Agents chat in Orchestrator (one job resumed per message on one Codex thread, a tool card, a PDF sent in chat summarized with Analyze Files)

Known limitations / follow-ups

Chat: in-chat tool confirmation and client-side tools aren't supported; in Orchestrator, every exchange after the first is parented under the first exchange's span (the robot keeps the job's UIPATH_PARENT_SPAN_ID across resumes).
Commands run by codex's built-in tools inherit the job environment, including UIPATH_ACCESS_TOKEN; documented under "Built-in tools and the sandbox", fix planned (the Claude SDK integration has the same exposure).
Tools of your own MCP servers can't be mocked in evals.
openai-codex is pinned to 0.161.x (the runtime uses some of its internals).
The package isn't in the CI lint/test workflows yet (neither is uipath-claude-sdk).

Merging publishes uipath-codex-sdk 0.1.0 (the CD workflow runs on packages/*/pyproject.toml changes).

A Codex agent becomes conversational with uipath.json runtimeOptions.isConversational (or when the platform starts it for a conversation), as in the Claude SDK integration. - One chat exchange per run. The conversation is one Codex thread whose rollout is kept in the state database under the conversation id and resumed for every new message; each exchange ends SUSPENDED with no triggers, so the chat service gets endExchange. - Assistant text streams as chat message deltas (commentary included); UiPath and MCP tool calls and shell commands render as tool cards. - A durable tool inside an exchange keeps the exchange open across the job suspension; a new message while a call is pending re-suspends on it. - Files sent in chat become job attachments (Analyze Files and the other attachment tools can read them). - One "Conversational agent run - <name>" span per exchange, with isConversational, conversationId, exchangeId and threadId. - samples/chat-agent; uipath-dev in the dev group.
