…3.0) A StandInMarkup data layer names the ASCII text a reader whose client cannot show the covered text is sent instead. AsciiFold replaces the whole covered text with it when any character in it would be replaced, before the game's translations and the built-in stand-ins, and leaves it alone when the reader shows all of it. Stored on the wire as "standin". Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01BwFSYuSdkcBDL82H3jvQvG

…is not printable ASCII Points a stand-in covers keep their carriers and markup. A StandInMarkup built directly or read from the wire with non-ASCII text no longer reaches an ASCII reader. Stand-in lookup walks the ordered ranges once. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01BwFSYuSdkcBDL82H3jvQvG

MarkupText.StandIn(content, text)wraps text in aStandInMarkupdata layer that names the ASCII text sent instead to a client that can't show it. SharpMUSH's+bbreaduses it to show a pinned post as 📌 to UTF-8 clients andPto ASCII ones. Today the built-in fold sends??.AsciiFold.Fold(MarkupText)replaces the whole covered text with the stand-in when any character in it would be replaced. Stand-ins come before the fold's translations and the built-in ones. A reader that shows all of the text keeps it, so a Latin-1 reader keepsé. The replacement carries the markup of the first character that isn't a point. A colour change inside one stand-in doesn't split it. Points inside it keep their carriers and markup.IDataMarkup, so no format writes anything for it. Its codec kind isstandin, and older readers keep it asUnknownMarkup.P(one cell) both line up.Tests: 11 new in
AsciiFoldTests: whole replacement, empty stand-in, precedence over translations, Latin-1, colour split, wire round trip, table alignment, bad text, points kept, non-ASCII stand-in ignored, and 1,000 stand-ins in one text. Full suite 1377/1377.The SharpMUSH PR can't build until 2.23.0 is released.
