Changes

  • Adds a deprecation notice to the top of the README: Spawn is no longer maintained, the nightly artifacts are no longer rebuilt, and existing installs keep working with the last published ones.

Wind-down done alongside (no code change)

  • Disabled the three nightly scheduled workflows with gh workflow disable:
    • Packer Snapshots (04:00 UTC): built DigitalOcean snapshots with DO_API_TOKEN, about half failing.
    • Agent Tarballs (05:00 UTC): failed on all 33 runs since Oct 1.
    • Build Docker Images (06:00 UTC): failed on all 33 runs since Oct 1.
  • They show as disabled_manually and can be turned back on with gh workflow enable <file> -R OpenRouterLabs/spawn.
  • Push and PR CI (lint, test, gate, CLI release) is left as is. This README change doesn't touch packages/cli/, so it won't publish a CLI release.

Still needs an org admin

  • Archive the repository (Settings → Archive) once this merges, and optionally update the description to say it's deprecated. I only have push access.
  • Check DigitalOcean for leftover spawn-packer builder droplets and private snapshots from the Packer job. Snapshots now stop being rotated, so the last ones stay until someone deletes them.
