storage_reader::get_index() mapped a single-layer id such as [event:N] straight to row N. Rows are filled in the order stores reach the output, so under -j > 1, or when cell numbers don't start at 0, form_source served another cell's product or failed to find it.

  • Resolve every id, single- or multi-layer, through the index map.
  • Key index maps by (file, container) instead of the container alone.
  • Throw on ids missing from the indes instead of falling back to row 0.
  • Drop fuzzy id matching; only the canonical id written by FORM matches.
  • Add tests: per-cell read-back checks for out-of-order and offset cells, the job cell, per-file indices, plus job-level write/read tests under -j 8.

Fixes #992

…lated to issue Framework-R-D#992

- Resolve every id, single- or multi-layer, through the index map.
- Key index maps by (file, container) instead of the container alone.
- Throw on ids missing from the indes instead of falling back to row 0.
- Drop fuzzy id matching; only the canonical id written by FORM matches.
- Add tests: per-cell read-back checks for out-of-order and offset cells, the job cell, per-file indices, plus job-level write/read tests under -j 8.

📝 Walkthrough

Walkthrough

The storage reader now resolves cell IDs through a cached index map and throws for missing or duplicate index data. Tests cover strict ID lookup and cell-number write/read round trips, including unordered writes and nonzero starting numbers.

Changes

Cell index lookup and round-trip validation

Layer / File(s) Summary
Build and use the index map
form/storage/storage_reader.hpp, form/storage/storage_reader.cpp
The reader caches index maps by file and container. It resolves exact ID matches to rows and throws for missing IDs, duplicate IDs, or empty index data. The previous structured-ID parsing and fallback paths are removed.
Validate exact storage lookup
test/form/form_storage_test.cpp, test/form/form_basics_test.cpp
Storage tests cover payload round trips, out-of-order rows, file isolation, duplicate IDs, and errors for unrecorded IDs. Reader lifecycle expectations now require missing IDs to throw.
Exercise unordered and offset cell round trips
test/form/cell_number_vector.cpp, test/form/form_cell_numbers.libsonnet, test/form/form_cell_numbers_*_*.jsonnet, test/form/CMakeLists.txt
New test configurations write and read cell numbers for unordered and offset cases. The check path compares each served number with its cell number; CMake registers the module and jobs.

Full details: Title check

Explanation

The title "FORM: locate every cell through the index container" matches the main change. The PR makes storage_reader resolve every cell ID (single-layer and multi-layer) through the index map keyed by file and container, instead of the single-layer shortcut that mapped IDs straight to row numbers. It also removes the row-0 fallback and fuzzy ID matching, and adds tests for out-of-order and offset cell read-back. The title is short, specific, and uses the project's FORM prefix.

Full details: Linked Issues check

Explanation

Issue [#992] requires correct read-back for single-layer cells written out of order and for nonzero cell numbers. storage_reader::get_index now resolves every identifier through an index map keyed by (file, container), performs exact canonical-ID lookup, and throws when the ID is absent. The added tests cover out-of-order rows, offset cells, the job cell, per-file index isolation, and -j 8 write/read jobs.

Full details: Out of Scope Changes check

Explanation

The changes remain within [#992]. The reader changes implement index-based lookup and strict failure behavior. The unit tests, test module, Jsonnet configurations, and CMake wiring validate the reported single-layer read-back failures and related index-keying cases. No unrelated change is demonstrated.

Full details: Docstring Coverage

Explanation

Docstring coverage is 17.65% which is insufficient. The required threshold is 80.00%. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff. Analyzed 17 functions across 5 files. (6 skipped: 6 unsupported.)

Resolution

Write docstrings for the functions missing them to satisfy the coverage threshold.
