From 2f6b022aa4ae5e90802bc73decd328c389b53c73 Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Alec Gibson <12036746+alecgibson@users.noreply.github.com> Date: Mon, 7 Sep 2026 12:10:01 +0000 Subject: [PATCH] =?UTF-8?q?=F0=9F=9A=9A=20Update=20remaining=20`master`=20?= =?UTF-8?q?references=20to=20`main`?= MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit The default branch is now `main`. GitHub retargeted the open pull requests, moved the Pages build branch, and redirects web and API requests for the old name, so what's left is the references we hard-code ourselves. The `master` entry in both workflows' `branches:` filters was only there to keep CI matching across the rename. It matches nothing now, so it goes. `gh_edit_branch` in `docs/_config.yml` is what just-the-docs builds the "Edit this page on GitHub" footer link from, on every docs page. Web redirects cover a stale value for now, but they're not worth relying on long term. The Coveralls badge takes `?branch=main` in both its image and its link. The `Test` badge moves to the per-workflow URL, which accepts a `branch` parameter, so it reads consistently with the Coveralls badge beside it. This one is a trade-off rather than a straight improvement: the old `/workflows/Test/badge.svg` form implicitly tracked whatever the default branch happened to be, so it would have survived this rename — and any future one — untouched, where the pinned form won't. Left alone deliberately: `coverallsapp/github-action@master` and the `ottypes/json1` links name branches in other repositories, and GitHub explicitly doesn't redirect `uses:` refs. Coveralls still has `master` as the project's default branch in its own settings, which we can't change from here, so the coverage badge will read as unknown until a build reports on `main`. 🤖 Generated with [Claude Code](https://claude.com/claude-code) Co-Authored-By: Claude --- .github/workflows/docs.yml | 2 -- .github/workflows/test.yml | 2 -- README.md | 4 ++-- docs/_config.yml | 2 +- docs/getting-started.md | 4 ++-- 5 files changed, 5 insertions(+), 9 deletions(-) diff --git a/.github/workflows/docs.yml b/.github/workflows/docs.yml index fc9f4ebd0..7347f9e0f 100644 --- a/.github/workflows/docs.yml +++ b/.github/workflows/docs.yml @@ -3,13 +3,11 @@ name: Docs on: push: branches: - - master - main paths: - docs/** pull_request: branches: - - master - main paths: - docs/** diff --git a/.github/workflows/test.yml b/.github/workflows/test.yml index 59968c7e0..c5285f9f9 100644 --- a/.github/workflows/test.yml +++ b/.github/workflows/test.yml @@ -3,11 +3,9 @@ name: Test on: push: branches: - - master - main pull_request: branches: - - master - main jobs: diff --git a/README.md b/README.md index d28ecc0d9..762a31ebc 100644 --- a/README.md +++ b/README.md @@ -1,8 +1,8 @@ # ShareDB [![NPM Version](https://img.shields.io/npm/v/sharedb.svg)](https://npmjs.org/package/sharedb) - ![Test](https://github.com/share/sharedb/workflows/Test/badge.svg) - [![Coverage Status](https://coveralls.io/repos/github/share/sharedb/badge.svg?branch=master)](https://coveralls.io/github/share/sharedb?branch=master) + ![Test](https://github.com/share/sharedb/actions/workflows/test.yml/badge.svg?branch=main) + [![Coverage Status](https://coveralls.io/repos/github/share/sharedb/badge.svg?branch=main)](https://coveralls.io/github/share/sharedb?branch=main) ShareDB is a realtime database backend based on [Operational Transformation (OT)](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operational_transformation) of JSON diff --git a/docs/_config.yml b/docs/_config.yml index ff99e858d..4d4274cbd 100644 --- a/docs/_config.yml +++ b/docs/_config.yml @@ -25,7 +25,7 @@ aux_links: gh_edit_link: true # show or hide edit this page link gh_edit_link_text: "Edit this page on GitHub" gh_edit_repository: "https://github.com/share/sharedb" # the github URL for your repo -gh_edit_branch: "master" # the branch that your docs is served from +gh_edit_branch: "main" # the branch that your docs is served from gh_edit_source: "docs" # the source that your files originate from gh_edit_view_mode: "tree" # "tree" or "edit" if you want the user to jump into the editor immediately diff --git a/docs/getting-started.md b/docs/getting-started.md index 0e91fc3b0..75fa2d628 100644 --- a/docs/getting-started.md +++ b/docs/getting-started.md @@ -25,7 +25,7 @@ You may also wish to install other [OT types]({{ site.baseurl }}{% link types/in ## Examples -There are [working examples](https://github.com/share/sharedb/tree/master/examples) in the git repository. +There are [working examples](https://github.com/share/sharedb/tree/main/examples) in the git repository. ## Usage @@ -65,7 +65,7 @@ This server will accept any WebSocket connection on port 8080, and bind it to Sh This client example uses [`reconnecting-websocket`](https://www.npmjs.com/package/reconnecting-websocket) to reconnect clients after a socket is closed. -Try running the [working example](https://github.com/share/sharedb/tree/master/examples/counter) to see this in action. +Try running the [working example](https://github.com/share/sharedb/tree/main/examples/counter) to see this in action. ```js var ReconnectingWebSocket = require('reconnecting-websocket')
